Are beds made on arrival?
Yes, all beds are made.
Are towels/tea towels provided?
All Premium, Premium Plus and Premium Vista lodges have towels included. For all other accommodation, please bring your own towels with you. Tea towels are not provided.
Are there additional charges for gas and electricity used?
No, the accommodation fee covers all services.
Can I request a particular lodge or holiday home?
Yes, if it is available. There is a small charge for this.
What time can I arrive?
You can arrive at any time and use our facilities once you have checked in. If you are staying in a Premium Vista lodge it will generally be available from 1.30pm, Premium and Premium Plus lodges from 2.30pm and all other accommodation from 4pm, this is after your lodge or caravan has been cleaned and checked.
What time must I vacate?
You must vacate your accommodation and hand the keys back at the Welcome Building by 10am. Once you have done this you are welcome to stay onsite and use the facilities.
Are prices per person or per unit?
Prices are per unit, but there is a limit to how many people can stay in each type of accommodation.
Do pitches have hook-ups?
Yes, all our serviced pitches have a hook-up point for electricity (10A), water (push on taps fitting), TV (seven satellite channels, four terrestrial and one local radio/ information channel), and waste water drainage point.
Is there an additional charge for electricity used?
No, the pitch fee covers use of all pitch services.
Can I request a particular pitch number?
Yes, if it is available. There is a small charge for this.
Are pitches hard standing?
Most of our serviced pitches include a 5x5m gravel or gravel/concrete hard standing on which to place your tourer/awning or tent. The hard standing is surrounded on at least three sides by grass. Strong metal ‘gravel’ pegs are a must when using these pitches. These can be purchased at the Village Store.
What are the arrival and departure times?
Your pitch should be available by 12 noon (but this is not guaranteed). You must vacate by 11am.
What is the latest time we can check in?
Arrivals is open until 9pm. We can accept late arrivals via our Night Warden, until about 10.30pm.
Can I book and make a payment over the phone?
Yes, you can make a provisional booking and secure that booking with a small non refundable deposit by credit/debit card.
Can I book adjacent accommodation or pitches?
If you wish to book three or more adjacent units or pitches written permission must be obtained from senior management. A separate booking form is required for each unit or pitch.
When is full payment due?
12 weeks prior to arrival
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, a number of each type of accommodation is designated for guests with pets, and we have a mixture of pet-friendly and pet-free touring and camping fields. Only two dogs per unit of accommodation/ pitch are allowed unless prior authorisation has been obtained from senior management. A charge will be made per dog.
Do you have fishing facilities?
Yes, Sandy Balls has 1/3 mile of the beautiful river Avon, a challenging stretch of water with a variety of swims. Fishing tackle and bait can be purchased from the Cycle Centre. Closed season 15 March to 15 June.
Do you need a permit/licence to fish?
Yes you will need a permit which can be purchased from the Cycle Centre. You will also require an Enviornmental Agency Rod Licence available from the local Post Offices, www.postoffice.co.uk or by calling 0844 800 5386.
Is Sandy Balls open all year round?
Yes, virtually all facilities are open all year round so the unique charm of Sandy Balls can be enjoyed 365 days a year.
Are there entertainment and activities all year round?
Entertainment and activities are available at weekends all year round, and then daily during the main Hampshire school holidays.
Is there a cash point on site?
Yes in the Village Store. The Woodside Inn provides a cash back service on debit cards.
Can I gain Internet access?
Wi-fi is available in the main Village Square area.
Can I pre-order goods from the Village Store Shop?
Yes, you can pre-order a number of items including newspapers, groceries, meat and freshly baked bread. Contact the Village Store directly on 01425 651218
Is tourist information available?
Yes, at Guest Services. There are lots of leaflets and guides on things to see and do and our staff are always happy to help with ideas. They also sell reduced price tickets for some attractions.
Are maps of walking and cycling routes available?
Yes, there are many footpaths, bridleways and open forest roads to explore and the Cycle Centre can provide you with all the information you need. Contact the Cycle Centre directly on 01425 657707
What equipment can be hired?
The following are available (in limited supplies) from the Cycle Centre: Carver MKII, Astroturf, Whale water hoses and extension water hoses, electricity hook-up cables, TV hook-up leads, heavy duty pegs. TVs, irons, hair driers, towels and a few other random items from Guest Services!
Can I pre-book a lesson or ride at your stables?
Yes, you can even arrange riding lessons before enjoying a hack out into the New Forest. Call 01425 654114 to make a booking (a deposit may be required). Minimum age is 8yrs old.
What age can children swim unaccompanied?
12. Under 12s must be accompanied by someone who can swim at least one length of the pool and is at least 16 years old.
Is swimming time limited?
Only during School Holidays and busy times. Sessions may be introduced to give everyone who wants to swim a chance to use the pools. During term time the indoor pool is occasionally used by local schools. On arrival check the Welcome Pack for session times and for how the system works.
Is the outdoor pool open all the time?
No, we try (weather permitting) to open the outdoor pool for the Spring Bank Holiday half term and keep it open until the middle of September.
How old do you have to be to use the gym?
Guests must be 16 years of age to use the gymnasium.
Can I park by my acccommodation or pitch?
A parking space is provided for one car next to each pitch/ accommodation unit. Guests with more than one vehicle will incur a charge and may be required to park second vehicles elsewhere on site at our direction.
Can we bring our commercial vehicle onsite while staying at Sandy Balls?
We prefer guests not to bring commercial vehicles (vans, mini-vans etc) to Sandy Balls. Those guests who insist on using such vehicles may be required to park them away from pitches/accommodation areas at our direction.
How can I join the Premier Club?
If you have stayed with us at least once you can take advantage of significant savings by joining our Premier Club. As well as generous discounts on holidays you will receive newsletters featuring offers, news, breaks, competitions and deals. Membership costs £35 in the first year, and £35 for subsequent years.
