I have worked as a bar supervisor for 8 years in the Woodside Inn , and made many friends over the years, guests and workmates alike. I recently decided that I needed a change, so have now gone over to housekeeping which is hard work but very enjoyable as I am trusted to get on with the job.
Hi my name is Jax, It must have been 23 years ago when myself and my family came here on holiday and fell in love with Sandy Balls. We first visited with a little Monza caravan, and stayed in Northfield. We sold the caravan as the children were getting older and space was limited so we started to come and stay in one of the holiday homes (caravan), and for the last few years we stayed in a lodge. We enjoyed staying here so much, we said we would love to buy a holiday home so that we could visit more regularly so we bought one! By this time our 3 children were all grown up and 2 were married , the other at university. We asked the Managing Director if he would let us know should a property come up for sale and fortunately he had a plot in mind which had never been developed. We were thrilled as it was in a lovely position.
Our home was built and we were so excited when it arrived. We have never looked back and have been so happy over the last 6 years of being in our lovely home Rivendell. I have worked as a bar supervisor for 8 years in the Woodside inn , and made many friends over the years, guests and workmates alike. I recently decided that I needed a change, so have now gone over to housekeeping, which is a complete contrast as, in the Woodside I talked all day to passing people, and now I work alone cleaning. No stress, just hard work but very enjoyable as I am left to my own devices and trusted to get on with the job. My husband also works here first as a warden then in housekeeping.

Having worked at Sandy Balls for over 10 years, I very much enjoy my time here and feel a valued member of the Sandy Balls team.
My title is Retail Team Leader at the Forest Hub, this is the centre for cycle hire, camping equipment and a retail area for clothes outdoor sports equipment and gifts and toys. It is also the centre for booking the activities that occur each week. This means that I am dealing with a huge variety of work, situations and people which can present challenges and at times requires patience and diplomacy! But there are not many days I do not go home with a smile on my face!!
Another aspect of my job is to supervise and train the assistants which join us through the busy key periods. For a lot of them this is their first job, so watching them grow and develop is incredibly rewarding. This is also how I started my journey with Sandy Balls working holidays whilst at school and university.
It is a great and varied job and I am looking forward to new challenges as the holiday village grows and to ensure each guest has a holiday to remember and cherish!!!

I joined the team at Sandy Balls in 2000 as a receptionist and worked my way up to assistant team leader then the team leader role of reception. That role gave me a diverse amount of work experience including problem solving, team leadership and, innovative thinking. My career has continued to grow and after Sandy Balls invested in me to do a degree in Holiday Park Management in 2009 I haven’t looked back and after 15 years I have become a fully-fledged manager for 4 years and loving my job! The work experience I have gained from Sandy Balls is second to none. Confidence, knowledge, drive and an ability to think on my feet.
